Back to Top of Kaminaki PageKaminaki

Kaminaki, located on Corfu's north-east coastline is spectacularly beautiful, but has remained uniquely unspoilt in spite of its celebrity-status. Kaminaki is one of the small and enchanting bays that stud this coastline like jewels on a necklace. Still only a hamlet, with village houses occupied by their original local inhabitants, it has a mixture of modern and converted accommodation, two unpretentious tavernas (and others within easy reach), and water of Caribbean colours that laps against a gently shelving beach of pure white pebbles and sand.

Back to Top of Kaminaki PageWho is Kaminaki For?

Even though quiet, Kaminaki has something for everyone. Lazy days can be spent on the beach of Kaminaki where there is excellent swimming (especially snorkeling) and a South facing beach to catch every ray of sun.
Those looking for a little more activity can rent a boat, take water skiing lessons or even have fun being toed behind a speedboat!
There are also numerous coastal walks, under an olive grove canopy, to nearby bays. Krouzeri and Agni can easily be reached by foot.

Back to Top of Kaminaki PagePlaces of Interest

There is a large 'bat cave' just above the bay, ask Spiros from the taverna.
Our Corfu walking map will prove useful in located the nearby beaches and bays: Corfu Maps

Back to Top of Kaminaki PageThe Kaminaki Beach

The Beach, Kaminaki, Corfu Resort Guide, Corfu Travel Guide Edit Photo and Caption Remove Photo
The beach at Kaminaki is one of the prettiest on the island with white pebbles and a sparkling blue sea which stays warm enough for swimming right into November! For those who enjoy snorkelling, there are rocks on either side of the beach - home to small fish and octopus. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available for hire on the beach.

Type

Fine shingle with sand patches

Sunbeds

There are sunbeds and umbrellas for hire on Kaminaki beach.

Facilities

There is a shower situated to the left of the beach near to the boat hire. The Taverna owner, Spiros, will let you use the taverna toilets as long as you purchase a drink or meal.

Accessibility

There are a few steps down to the beach but it is flat when you are there. To walk to the Boat hire and water sports, you will need to climb over a few rocks.

Cleanliness and Urchins

Kaminaki is not a blue flag beach although it is kept extremely clean. Along the main beach there are no sea urchins but be careful if you swim by the rocky areas to the side; sea shoes (or jellies) should be warn.

Back to Top of Kaminaki PagePlaces Nearby

A coastal path (lit at night) leads to Krouzeri Beach (see below) where yet another taverna, run by Yannis, is especially popular with teenagers on summer evenings. It is only a 5 min walk along the rocky coastal path - good shoes are needed and it would not suit the elderly.

Krouzeri Beach

Kalami Corfu Agni Travel

Krouzeri has a long beach (sandy and pebbles) offering safe swimming, water sports and diving. Beachside tavernas provide welcome refreshments to those enjoying the beach and excellent snorkelling. The nearby Nissaki Beach Hotel offers a swimming pool which is open to non-residents, a restaurant and bar and, during the evening a low-key disco. There is a jetty/collection point for the water taxis which operate in the area.

Kalami

Kalami Corfu Agni Travel

Kalami: The bay of Kalami nestles below the hills of the North East Corfu and is famous for both its beautiful beach, and Lawrence Durrell's 'White House'. A popular destination for couples, Kalami is also ideal for a family holiday with tavernas, safe swimming, water sports and boat hire - everyone is catered for!

Agni Bay

Agni Bay: In Greek Agni means un-spoilt and this describes Agni perfectly - just three Tavernas (each with their own jetty for mooring up to) and a sprinkle of local buildings. The bay is reached mainly by rented motor boats, although recently there is now a narrow road down into the bay. Each evening we offer a 'Speed Boat' taxi service, from surrounding bays to Taverna Agni. The above video shows the exciting experience.

Nissaki

Nissaki Corfu Agni Travel

Nissaki is a small pretty resort with a horseshoe-shaped beach, offering excellent swimming and water sports. There are several tavernas specialising in local cuisine. A small harbour shelters the many little fishing boats that are moored there and there is a jetty/collection point for the Taverna Agni water taxi which offers an evening service to Taverna Agni and a twice-weekly trip to Corfu Town

Back to Top of Kaminaki PageHow to get to Kaminaki

Follow the main coastal road from Corfu town towards the North East (signposted Kassiopi). You will pass through the resorts of Ipsos and Nissaki. Carry on this road taking care of the narrow road that winds around the mountain side. As you drive out of Nissaki, you will pass the shell petrol station on your left. In 100m time, look out for the signs down to Kaminaki on your right. (Slow down as the turning comes up on you quickly and it is on a bend!) The turning is on your right. Drive down the road to the bottom. (It is a little speed in places, but well worth the effort.)
Parking is on the roadside, and is limited but you will usually find a spot back up the road.

Haven't stayed at the villa but looks nice from the photos. The nearest largest supermarket we
use is A B supermarket in Ipsos, about 10km away from Kaminaki. Set on 2 floors, ground floor has the food/drinks etc and  1st floor cleaning products etc.
We normally stop off at A B or Diellas in the Kontokali area approx 17 km away on our way back from Corfu town. These are even bigger supermarkets.
You have also got 2 corner shops within 1 km away for the bear essentials.
Hope you have a pleasant stay.

We did a lovely walk from Kaminaki beach - heading north/east along the coast, through the grounds of the Nissaki Beach Hotel, Agni Bay and finished up in Kalami.

We set off at 7am (didn't want to be doing a lot of hiking in the midday sun!). Arrived at Agni Bay by about 9am and stopped at the Taverna Agni for coffee and breakfast. We were a bit early but Eleni rustled up some bacon rolls and we sat for an hour or so by the beach drinking coffee and watcing the world go by. We arrived at Kalami around 12.30, having stopped in Yialiskari Bay for some swimming. There was a fairly steep climb up to the main road where we caught the bus back to Kalami.

The walk itself wasn't too strenuous but is a bit up and down and is a rough track most of the time through the olive groves. As it follows the coast it meanders a bit but the views are fantastic. Think it was about 3 miles all told.

To explain - I've made two posts in the Kaminaki and Agios Gordios Forums neither of which are showing in the respective Forum on the Home page.  Some Forums appear to be unaffected.

My posts do show up in the "Latest Forum Posts" section on the Home page.

Thanks for having a look at this.

We always stay in Acharavi but Im not a fan of the beach as we love to snorkel, the sand at Acharavi makes visability awfull. Just by chance our Greek friend mentioned Kerasia beach so we gave it a go WELL what can I say, its one of our favourites now and almost comes close to Kaminaki for snorkelling!!Heart

Congratulations!

My husband and I got married last June and we stayed in Kaminaki for our honeymoon. We rented one of the Villa’s with a pool overlooking the sea, and we loved our time there. We wanted something that was very laid back, no schedule and relaxing and that is what we found! There was a little store that we were able to buy fresh bread and items to keep in the villa and there are two Taverna's, we really only ate at the one, but the food was excellent and everyone was so very friendly! We were there the first two weeks of June, so it was before the busy time, but the beach was never crowded. We didn't do a car hire, we just called a Taxi to take us to Corfu Town when we wanted to go explore, and we did rent a boat.  Can't wait for us to return! We live in the US so it is quite a journey for us but we will be back in a couple years!  Congrats again on your upcoming marriage and good luck on finding the perfect honey moon locations!  Smile

Thank you both.  We are leaving the car in Igoumentisa because we are staying in Corfu Town for 2 nights before hiring another car and going onto Kaminaki to where we normally stay.

Dasia - did you stay in Thessaloniki?  I am just in the process of booking a hotel there for 3/4 nights.  We are doing our trip in the opposite direction to you but that makes no difference.  Last year we went to Athens first and then flew into Corfu from there.  It makes for an extremely interesting holiday and means that you do actually see other bits of Greece.
