Agios (Saint) Stephanos (NE) Corfu

Back to Top of Agios (Saint) Stephanos (NE) PageAg Stephanos NE

Saint (or Agios) Stephanos is a small harbour village, located on the North East coast of Corfu. This little fishing village has now become a very popular 'up market' resort with many stylish villas for rent. There is a thriving local Greek community that welcomes its visitors with the warmth and hospitality Greece is famous for. This village is extremely pretty and is situated within the shelter of hills that sweep down on either side, making it a very safe harbour. A car or boat is essential for exploring. Relaxing evenings can be spent in one of the several Tavernas looking across the water to Albania.

Back to Top of Agios (Saint) Stephanos (NE) PageWho is the resort for

Saint Stephanos is a quiet resort. Mainly attractive to couples but popular with larger families during school holidays. During the day there are plenty of comings-and-goings with boats, always amusing to watch. The bars and tavernas are not usually noisy, but during the height of the season there are some visitors who liven things up a little more at night. Whether you like 'pottering' to a quiet holiday routine, or enjoy renting a boat for some gentle exploration of the beautiful coastline, there is something for everyone in Saint Stephanos.

Back to Top of Agios (Saint) Stephanos (NE) PageThe Beach

There is a narrow beach, stretching along the left-hand side of the bay.

Fine shingle beach quite narrow.

Sunbeds and umbrellas for hire on the beach.

None, although most Tavernas will allow you to use their toilets if you purchase a drink.

Child Suitability

You would need to keep a close eye on young children on this beach as the water shelves off very quickly to become quite deep.

There is a flat walk across to the beach from the village road.

Cleanliness and Urchins

The beach here has a lot of seaweed that washes up due to the traffic from the sea. Also watch out for sea urchins if you are swimming by the rocks, sea shoes can be purchased locally to protect your feet.

None, although boat trips do leave from here into Corfu town and Kassiopi and the surrounding bays. Enquire in the local tourist office for details.

The lively resort of Kassiopi offers s variety of evening entertainment and is just a short drive away by car or taxi - or boat during the daytime, for shopping and sightseeing (interesting Roman fortress, recently repaired and opened to the public).
The lovely bay of Kerasia can be reached on foot (15-20 minutes), and anyone hiring a boat will find numerous coves and bays, some almost deserted.

Back to Top of Agios (Saint) Stephanos (NE) PageHow to get there by Car

Follow the main road from Corfu town towards Kassiopi, As you near the north east you will find the roads narrow and they are full of bends, mirrors have been placed on the particularly bad bends to help you. Go careful as you drive through this part of the island as the bends do come up on you rather quickly. As you near Kassiopi Agios Stephanos is signposted on your right, take this turning follow the narrow winding road down to the fork where there is a signpost to Avalaki on your left and Agios Stephanos on your right, take the right turn and continue all the way down, this road is particularly winding so take care, There are some good photo points on this road, high above Stephanos. You can park on this road at the bottom there is a car park.
