Agios Gordios is our favourite resort on Corfu. There are also restaurants along the road leading down to the beach. Also, Steven's On The Hill is another place to go, it is on the road leading to the big beach hotel - it has an amazing view of the sunset, so go there early evening and watch the amazing colours. Maybe this would be a better link. You can check the bus times into Corfu from Agios Gordios and then times to other locations on the island. Frequency of buses changes throughout the year dependant on tourist numbers. they constantly update this information as required.

Hi Having just got married (22nd September) in Corfu Town we would heartily recommend Sally Peacock at Key Island Services dot com to anyone thinking of getting married in Corfu.
To say it was a quiet wedding would be an understatement - just the two of us (ages 70 and 59) with Sally and her husband Nick as witnesses. Nick also kindly took photos for us throughout the day. Having left the decision to get married in Corfu until late, we just had the necessary documentation ready in time and had to request the FCO to speed up the Apostille of the documents which they kindly did - full credit to them.
Sally guided us through the procedure by email initially and then was on hand when we arrived in Corfu Town to run us though what we could expect. She met us again the day before the wedding to take us to the venue and gave us a tour of the town showing us places we would never have discovered on our own. The wedding day was just perfect and Sally clearly has a good relationship with the Greek officials as she speaks the language fluently.
We didn't really know what to expect on the day so to say that Sally exceeded our expectations may seem a bit contradictory but we don't know how better to describe it. It was wonderful, unforgettable experience and we will always be grateful to Sally.
We arrived in Corfu 18th September (having first been diverted to Thessaloniki because of a storm at Corfu), spent 5 nights at the Ariti in Kanoni - tired hotel but great staff - and the Friday following the wedding moved on to our favourite accommodation and resort, Dina's Paradise in Agios Gordios.
Hope this is of help to anyone else thinking of getting married in Corfu

Also any other must see places. I am staying in Paleokastrisa and Agios Gordios 2nd week. Have a hire cat and want places I may not have visited on my last trip. Thanks folks x View Topic:

I'm hoping to book a holiday in Corfu next year (may still only be a dream...). We've been to Agios Gordios twice and loved it, had a day out in Paleokastritsa and couldn't wait to get back to AG. I'm wondering if we should try somewhere else next time. What I love about AG is how compact it is, not too touristy, great beach, good choice of eating places, so friendly. How does Agios Stephanos NW compare? And is there anywhere else you would suggest?

Well done, a location with a great view over the bay. It was where I had my first holiday in Agios Gordios. Spiros is a great host and the view from the balconies are second to none. It is quiet a climb up the hill but well worth the effort. You are also free to use the pool at Lidio Sofia which is dead opposite Mazis. View Topic:

Angela's in Pentati is a real gem. Right off the beaten track, you will need a car, a taxi or a very stout pair of walking boots to reach it. It is a real traditional village Cafe/Bar. There is no real menu, a meal will be cooked for you from what they have in their kitchen. You can have your meal on the roof garden which has a superb view over Agios Gordios. Add to this a few glasses of local wine, a sunset and you will have had a visit to remember and tell your friends about.

Hi, looking for some advice on visiting Moraitika. We, a couple in our late 30's have been to Corfu a few times, we've stayed in Kassiopi, Paleokastritsa and Agios Gordios - Agios Gordios we have visited 3 times and is our favourite resort so far. But this year we fancy trying another resort, and are thinking of Moraitika. What we like in a resort is a nice sandy beach, places to walk to during the day, good tavernas and decent clean accommodation. We are not looking for clubs etc, but a bit of life in the night-time is OK :-)

Agios Gordios is not the night life capital of the west coast but there is always something going on. Several locations have their regular Greek Nights and themed evenings. Some locations just have some local musicians to entertain their guests. If you are one for cocktails in the evening there are several locations that will fit the bill. For late night drinks and good music there is Robins Nest. At both Alo-Bar and Mikes Bar have regular Tribute Bands and live musicians playing all sorts of music. Food is mainly Greek/Mediterranean cuisine but there is a Mexican in the resort. There is a little of everything to suit most tastes in the resort. Like Kassiopi they get many repeat visitors so they must be doing something right.

First of all I would like to thank everyone for all your help and suggestions. I have finally booked somewhere. I really wanted a quick transfer time in the end so this is what ruled the decision. Unfortunately most of the places you recommended are fully booked. Agios Gordios looks amazing, but could not find anything within my budget and a lot are booked. So I have had to book Benitses and no one has even mentions this ! ha ha. I am just so happy to be back in Greece that if I have my Greek salad, kalamari, tzatziki and of course Gyros, that is me sorted. Once again thank you and Kala nikta

I will be staying there in August, it will be my 6th visit there. They have a weekly BBQ and also a Pizza evening. The food is good and reasonably priced. It is a 5 minute gentle stroll down to the beach. The main street to the beach is lined with first class taverna's. If you like Mexican food as an alternative, there is a location for you. Lots of locations in the resort hold themed evenings, local musicians, Greek Dancing, Cocktail Bar and of course the famous "Robins Nest" for a late night drink & music. Hope that you get a good price from the Tonas family and they are able to fit you in. For a virtual trip round the resort check out http://www. agiosgordios.corfu360.net/

Have you thought of visiting the west coast. A traditional resort with a good beach, lots of first class taverna's and reasonable level of night to suit most tastes. Only 30 minutes from the airport with a reliable bus service should you wish to explore Corfu town. Add to this some of the best sunsets to watch as you enjoy an evening drink on the beachfront. If this scenario appeals to you, Agios Gordios could be worth thinking about. There is only one big hotel but plenty or reasonable priced accommodation.

We had a lovely holiday in Parga 10 years ago, we stayed in some studios right on Valtos beach. We had a favourite tavern called Sakis, if you walk up from the main town to the castle then turn right its just about 100m up on the right. When you asked for the bill Dad would come up, ask what you had eaten then add it up in his head or write on the paper table cloth. It got cheaper the more times you went!! Free garlic bread to start and always free ouzo at the end of the meal. If it got busy they would just put more table out in the road!! Loved it The place in the mountains you are thinking of above Agios Gordios is maybe Pentati? Lovely tavernas there, either Angela's or Chris's place. Gill

You don't get many topless sunbathers on Agios Gordios beach anymore. The tavernas line the beach front so you may have an audience! There's always the Black Rocks area at the right hand side of the beach which is quieter. View Topic:

If you go to the northern end of the beach at Agios Gordios you fill find Black Rocks. They do some some first class food and snacks. You can get some first class views fron that location. If you go through Black Rocks there are several secluded beaches where you can happily go topless. One small word of warning, beware there can be some very bad rip tides off these beaches. Top up your tan, enjoy some refreshment or food at Black Rocks prior to returning to your apartment.

Sinarades is a real gem, just wander around and see the what I am told is the largest traditional village on the island. They also have a folk lore museum there. Whilst there go up the hill to Aerostrato for a superb view over part of the west coast. If you head a little further south there is the bay at Agios Gordios. A fantastic safe sandy beach with Tavernas and bars down to the waterline.

The road conditions between Pendati and Agios Gordios are worse than I feared. The village has launched a website to raise money for repairs. The website also gives lots of information about the village and many photos. Check it out at http://www.pentati.com/regeneration-projects/road-fund.html

The winter weather conditions in the area have caused many problems. The storms of past weeks have washed away much of the board walk. The latest casualty is the road between Pendati and Agios Gordios. Part of it has collapsed possibly caused by a landslip due to excessive local rain. Let us hope that money is found to repair the road in time for the summer season as many guests enjoy visiting this traditional village.

How lovely to be able to holiday in Spring and late summer when it's half the price! We usually go to Agios Gordios but we're having a change. We love picturesque places so Kalami grabbed me. Our Kefalonia holiday was lovely. We went in May 2007, back when the children were young. We had a bit of rain and an earthquake but still had a really lovely holiday. Sadly we can't fly there from the local airports. Enjoy! (Seems like we like the same things!) View Topic:

I was going to suggest that you look at resorts on the north coast or west coast for a change. As hinted in the previous post, Agios Gordios might suit you down to the ground. I must admit that I am biased as I now consider the resort as my second home. It has a long sandy beach, fantastic food locations, something for everyone and is so laid back it is almost horizontal.

May is a beautiful time to visit the island but be prepared for chilly evenings. The mountainsides will be cloaked with fresh greens and the yellow of the Spanish broom. In the olive groves and along quiet paths the fireflies are a sight to behold. It should be remembered that early in the season the KTEL Green Bus service offers a restricted service if you wish to visit other resorts using it. A quiet resort with plenty of good eating places, sandy beach and good bus connections, my suggestion would be Agios Gordios on the west coast. I have visited there on 3 occasions over the years and it is magical.

We too are thinking of going to Lefkas, having looked at so many islands.. We are breaking away (not far) from Corfu for a change and are struggling to find somewhere that matches up to our beloved Agios Gordios. We have teenage daughters and are travelling in August. They come along to the beach and restaurants with us, so they're not needing entertainment, but a nice bar for an early evening drink would be good. We don't like it too busy or crowded, especially on the beach. We will probably be hiring a car for the fortnight so can get about, although wouldn't want to have to drive in the evenings to restaurants. Any ideas on resorts please? We've been looking at Nidri but can't find suitable accommodation, Ag Nik looks lovely but beach is too busy in August..but we could always drive somewhere else in the day?.. HELP!! Thanks! From Agios Gordios go up hill to Sinarades- follow main road bypassing the village and bear right past Kasrtellani Messis and then left at t junction...downhill passing Kinopiastes on left the turning to Gastouri on right. Just go straight on until you join main south road at at Vrioni. Then go straight on until you pass airport and arrive at Corfu Town!

So pleased to hear that you enjoyed your food during your visit to the resort. Angelas in Pentati is a special place, nothing is too much trouble. As a bonus, from their roof garden there are some fantastic views over the resort. I have only been back from Agios Gordios a week and am already missing it. I was also staying in Olga (Room 1) and the only thing to shatter the peace was Georges voice at Gee Bee's supermarket.

Hi ladies and gents For the past 8 years we have visited Agios Gordios but there is a desire to try something different. So, I need your advice. I've been to Sidari and Kavos when I was younger and I'm not interested in going back. We liked Agios Gordios because it was somewhere inbetween the traditional/commercialised. So...there are likely two pensioners, two forty something's, a fifty something a thirty something, a 13 year old, a nine year old and a four year old. For the 50 and one forty something with the 13 and 9 year old possibly a villa with a pool close to a quiet resort. The rest would be content with a couple of apartments in that resort. Can you help with resorts first of all please? I only know the resorts I have been to. Im thinking the North but open to any suggestions. To the floor... View Topic:

The last time we visited Corfu was in August '12 and there was a bit of a problem with wasps there. Not sure whether it was just in Agios Gordios or a general problem on the island as a whole. We've holidayed in various Greek islands and resorts over the past 20 years but have never had a problem with wasps.
I'd love to book Roda for next summer but if there's a chance the wasps will be back, I'd rather not take the risk.
We were told by the owners of Steven's on the Hill, in AG that the wasps aren't normally troublesome until September but they'd arrived early in August that year.
Has anybody who holidayed in Corfu this month had a problem with wasps please?
Thanks View Topic:

Hi, sad though it is, I am really looking forward to going to Corfu ( Agios Gordios) for the 3rd time in September. I am taking my mother (who has been with me before) and her partner (he hasn't been before). Does anyone else on here go on their own? The parents are wanting to go off and explore, knowing my mum, EVERY day. Some days I would just like to chill on the beach. Will any of you be there to meet up? View Topic:

I hope that you get your problems sorted out soon. I am returning to Irene Apartments in Agios Gordios for my second visit in September. I have arranged my transfers through Travel Republic who I have used in the past with no problems. You check in with your paperwork at the Lord Travel kiosk in arrivals at the airport. I waited only 20 minutes for my shuttle transfer and my return one was bang on time.

I have been travelling independently to Agios Gordios fof the past 15 years without any problems. There are many choices of 2 bedroom apartments available but if you are looking towards next years holidays, now is the time to book to get the best selection available. Many if the larger locations will also have suitable accommodation. Check out the local website for lots of information.

Hello Lorraine!
Can't advise on booking independently in Agios Gordios, but but generally there is nothing to be nervous about. I always book my accommodation and flights independently where ever we go, even when we go on cruises.
For starters, I would suggest you do some homework, do a Google search for 'Agios Gordios rentals' I am sure the result will bring up loads!! I can suggest several good websites for holiday rental accommodation in Agios Gordios and the rest of Corfu, but I don't think I am allowed to do that here, but if you send me a private message through this forum, I will send you the links. Otherwise, sit back and wait, I am sure there will be loads of help from folks on here.
As for flights, keep tabs on all the airlines that fly from your local airport(s) and check when they release their flights for next year.
Good luck!

Dear Nathsamk, we started off at the Hotel you are staying at and really enjoyed the resort. As others have said you must visit Stevens on the Hill for a drink or two. You can also use the pool and the restaurant is fantastic. We have been back to the resort and stayed at Stevens for many years. One thing is for sure in that you will be spending many future years visiting Agios Gordios. You will not be disappointed.

My transfer went smoothly, a wait of just over 20 minutes from the time I checked in at the Lord Travel desk. There were a total of 5 people on a 12 seater minibus. The first stop was at Pelekas Beach for 2 couples and then on to Agios Gordios. The minibus was a Mercedes which had seen a rather hard life and was burning little oil but was a speedy and very cheap transfer. A big thumbs up to Travel Republic who I booked the transfer through.

Jan's suggestions are great, we love a trip over to Petriri and Boukari from AG. The road up from Prasoudi to Paramonas and Pentati is just a single track but you are not likely to meet much traffic. Once you get to Pentati park near Angela's or Chris's and walk down to the old harbour, there is a little beach and a lovely view of Agios Gordios. View Topic:

If you follow one of the ideas in the previous post and return to Agios Gordios through Pentati, be sure to drop into Angela's or Chris's Place for at least a drink or possibly food. Both locations have first class views over Agios Gordios.

Head south from Ag. Gordios to Kato Garouna and Ag. Mattheos. From there join main road south. If you go left off this road you can visit Petriti and Boukari, both unspoilt, places to swim and eat the freshest fish possible. If you go right off the main road you can go to Vitalades, Marathias, and Issos (avoiding a large resort like Ag. Georgios) Or just go to Agios Mattheos, down to the beach past Gardiki castle beyond the lake (Halikounas), or at the castle bear right to Prasoudi beach, on to Paramonas and then the narrow coast road that winds through Pentati and ends up back at Ag. Gordios.

I would go for Messonghi- some tavernas along road to Boukari have been open at weekends all winter, and there will be much more life round there as Corfiots go out to this area, whereas I doubt if many would go to the west coast to somewhere which is basically a beach resort. Also bus service is not only to Corfu town, you can go south explore the Lefkimi area- the flamingoes should be there- and for walking the areas round Chlomos, or Corissia, cannot be improved on. Buses start and finish in Corfu town- there are few cross island routes- you could actually walk from one to the other through the olive groves (I live in Benitses and had two guests who used to walk to Agios Gordios for a swim- 2 and a half hours each way they told me)

Hi Jollys, I am a regular visitor to Agios Gordios but I will try not to be biased. Both resorts have a lot to offer the visitor and both have good bus services to Corfu town from where you will be able to explore the island by bus at reasonable cost. Here is a link to the bus timetable which is constantly updated month by month dependent on on passenger numbers. You can get some idea now but check it out nearer your holiday.
On the east coast you are liable to see some great sunrises and on the west coast some of the most fantastic sunsets which you will be able to enjoy on a beachfront taverna with the nightcap of your choice. There will be many places open and you will be made to feel very welcome.
As to walking, you are able to head towards Sinarades in one direction and Kato Garouna/Pendati from the bus stop in the center of the resort. You can stick to the roads or use some of the local paths. If you walk to Sinarades you are able from there to continue on to Aerostrato which offers some fantastic views. It is not a climb for those faint of heart but well worth while.
Agios Gordios has a long sandy beach which is fronted by a range os tavernas and bars. Do all your homework and make your own choice. Regardless of which resort you choose, have a fantastic holiday.

Nice to hear from you again Tom. When I checked with Travel Republic earlier this month I was quoted £22 return to Agios Gordios. In the January Sale it was reduced to under £14, the sort of value you like. Hope to see you and Marion in A.G. one of these days.

I am not aware if you know anything about Agios Gordios. Ammos Bay Hotel is the location of what used to be the "Yammas" bar, very close to Stevens on the Hill. It has a great view over the resort if you love sunset views. Both Olga and Emily have had very good reports of service. I have not visited them or stayed there, but their location is secluded. I hope that you get reports of a guest who has stayed in one of them.

Hi Lorraine, I haven't stayed in any of them as we always stay at the Angelica. If you want to watch the fantastic sunsets then Ammos Bay is the one for you, here is a link to their website http://ammos-bay.gr/. The pool shown is at the Irene apartments. The Villa Stavroula is just off the main street and has some nice gardens around it. One of the apartments is rented independantly, here is the website for that to give you an idea http://www.homeaway.co.uk/p406575. Olga and Emily are down the lanes in the village if you want to be secluded. Hope that helps. I'm sure wherever you decide to stay you will have a lovely time in Agios Gordios.

I agree with Kaffy's coments. In Agios Gordios this morning it was dull and overcast but in Corfu town it was bright and sunny and warm about 23c. Back on the west side of the island a storm has rolled in and we are getting steady. Night time temperatures have been lower than expected in the last few days. Alas, heading for home in the morning.

I am currently on holiday in Agios Gordios at the end of September. Each and every day I watch local weather forecasts and how the weather turns out. There are so many "Micro Climates" on the island, one forecast does not fit all. Today there was about 1mm of rain recorded in Corfu Town but on the other side of the island no more than a rumble of thunder and a few spots of rain. Will these conditions last in the resort of your choice? Mozzies permitting, time to go to bed after a local nightcap!!!!

Hi Jance, Have deleted your post from the Agios Georgios forum to avoid confusion. x
However in your post above you said that it was the NW coast just up from Paleo which is Agios Georgios NW.
Stephens on the hill is in Agios Gordios.
Now I am totally confused. xxx
