Spiro's Jetty House really is a house on a jetty - which gives it a unique character. With views of the colourful and very pretty harbour from one side of the house and open sea views across to the Greek mainland from the other. It is rather like living on a boat!

Juliet Balcony
Loggos harbour from the 'Juliet balcony'.
Looking out from the sitting area over the boats moored in the harbour.
Loggos is one of the most beautiful little harbours in the Ionian, and the views from the 'Juliet balcony' are proof of this.

Floor Plan
|
Outside
The house is entered directly from the jetty - a front door leads to a flight of stairs that in turn lead up to the property. The ground floor is occupied by a quiet and very laidback little bar, and boats are moored right outside. At the rear, there is nothing but sea - as far as the eye can see!

Location
Google Map
 (Click map to Zoom in)
Spiro's Jetty House lies at one end of the tiny harbour of Loggos. The gorgeous beach of Levrechio, with its own taverna, is 5 minutes walk away, and other sparkling bays and coves are easily reached by small boat - rent your own or go with one of the local boats. Gaios and Lakka are easily reached by local bus, or taxi, and trips can be arranged to visit the fabulous Blue Caves of the west coast and the stunning beaches of Anti-Paxos. (Click the above photo, taken from the Paxos Sea plane, to view the exact location of Spiros Jetty House.)
Loggos Paxos
On an island famed for its small-scale beauty, Loggos stands out as one of the most enchanting places on Paxos. Visitors never fail to succumb to its unique charm, and many of them have been returning year after year, glad to see that the changes are negligible, and that you still have to get up from your taverna meal to let the local bus squeeze past! The boats still bob along the curve of the quayside, fascinating in their variety, from sleek yachts to less glamorous fishing boats. The tiny harbour of Loggos, colourful enough for any artist or photographer, has a refreshingly intimate atmosphere, unspoiled by the daily influx of curious visitors. At night, little can be heard but the buzz of conversation from the busy tavernas where fresh fish always tops the menu and there is an intriguingly cosmopolitan atmosphere. Three mini-markets, a bakery with wonderful fresh bread every day, and supplies of fresh fruit and vegetables brought over regularly from the mainland, make self-catering a simple matter - but who could resist the conviviality and choice of excellent food at the waterfront tavernas? A pleasant beach lies to one side of the harbour - other more secluded beaches are within easy reach: Loggos Paxos

What Is Nearby
Walking through ancient olive groves you come across more churches than you might think possible, including the marvellous Church of the Ypapanti outside Lakka. Then there is the west coast - inaccessible except by boat, and very dramatic. From Loggos, the coastline in both directions is well worth exploring, on foot or by boat - olive and cypress trees come right down to the water's edge and rocky outcrops separate one exquisite bay from another.
Lakka Paxos
Lakka lies in the north of Paxos at the head of a long
natural inlet of the most startling shade of turquoise - reminiscent of a
Caribbean bay. It is a perfect harbour and is filled with a fascinating
array of yachts in summer. The village itself is small and focused almost
entirely on its harbour-front, with a selection of useful shops and several
good restaurants and bars, including a very good Italian restaurant. The
shores of the bay are fringed with beautiful natural beaches, shaded by
trees, and it is possible to walk to other, more unfrequented, beaches on
the other side of the headlands: Lakka Paxos
Gaios Paxos
Gaios is the 'capital' of Paxos, the largest of the three
main settlements and the only one that can be called a town, albeit a very
small one. Its Venetian and British heritage is visible in the colourful
buildings that line the long harbour-front. Gaios now has two harbours - the
newer one is a short walk or drive from the centre, and serves as the port
of call for ferries, excursion and cruise boats. It is also the setting for
the often spectacular arrivals and departures of the Corfu-Paxos seaplane
service. The older harbour, sheltered from the open sea by two small
islands, is a never-ending source of entertainment in summer, with its
plethora of cosmopolitan yachts. Gaios continues its daily business
regardless of its exotic visitors, and it is this contrast that makes it so
entertaining to spend an hour or more at one of the cafes in the main square
alongside the quay. An intriguing variety of eating establishments, chic
boutiques and old-fashioned stores make Gaios quite fascinating: Gaios Paxos
