Taverna Agni Review

This web site, has been created by Nathan from Taverna Agni / Agni Travel. Many people who find this website, and then visit the taverna, are often surprised (and pleased) to find that Taverna Agni is just a small family run concern. You will find our Taverna located on the beach in Agni bay; it has been in the same family since it was built in 1851. Mum (Aphrodite) and Dad (Harilos) even in their 70's still play an active role. Theodore, their son, catches fish for the Taverna. Eleni, their daughter, works with mum in the kitchen preparing and serving food. Nathan came on holiday several years ago - but stayed!

Taverna Agni Opening Times

During the summer months (May - October), we are open daily. We serve lunch from noon-4pm and evening meals from 7.30pm - 11pm

Taverna Agni - Prices

Peoples tastes, demands and pockets are all different and no Taverna can please everyone. If you are looking for a place to 'just feed the kids' then we are probably an unsuitable choice.

How to Find us

Agni bay is a quiet and un-spoilt bay, located on the NE coast of Corfu. On the map, Agni is between Nissaki and Kalami. It is not often marked as it is only recently that a road was brought down to the bay.

Who Created the Corfu Travel Guide

By now, you have probably realised that this is an extensive web site. It started as a hobby and a way of keeping in touch with the many visitors who have become friends - but of course has now grown into the 'Corfu Travel Guide'. The Site is constantly being improved and updated. Nathan (and Eleni) who run 'Taverna Agni' are responsible.

Taverna Agni - Recipes

At Taverna Agni, we have searched out the most exciting traditional Greek fare and added a Mediterranean twist. If you have visited us before, then you are sure to want to try making some of our local dishes.

Crispy Courgettes

These little crispy delights are one out our most popular starters. Serve them immediately for full impact!!

Taramosalata

It is hard to find good taramosalata even in Greece! Most 'tourist' Tavernas serve a bright pink imitation. Unfortunately this has given it a bad name - as good taramosalata is stunning. Our recipe is expensive, excellent and simple.

Prawn Saganaki

This is a saucy, creamy number and very popular.

Tzatziki

A refreshing yogurt, cucumber and garlic traditional dip.

Briam

A mixed baked vegetable dish - delicious.

Humus

A popular creamy dip made from chick-peas.

Stifado

This is a meaty stew with beef and baby shallot onions. The best part is the thick sauce which is made slightly sweet by the onions. (Incidentally the correct pronunciation is: Stifatho)
