On the terrace, enjoying spectacular views, with your friends, your gin and tonic and your chef in the kitchen Does that sound good? Ben and Claudia thought so and moved to Corfu in 2002 to launch their exciting venture, The Invisible Kitchen. They had been slogging as chefs in London for a number of years and needed a life-change.
The idea is that Ben and Claudia do all the necessary cooking and preparation and then deliver the food directly to your door. They offer the service of a chef and waitress for the occasion or simply to drop the food off so that you can manage your meal when and how you wish. They also cater for weddings, cocktail parties and barbecues.
The Invisible Kitchen, offers an international repertoire. They serve authentic Greek food with a modern twist for those thirsting for the Greek experience, but also exciting dishes for those who have had one moussaka too many. Order crispy sea bass on confit of artichoke and fennel or tamarind tiger prawns; order lamb tagine with almond and apricot couscous or pea, crispy onion and rosemary risotto cake - all utilising the delicious and abundant fresh ingredients found on Corfu.

This year the catering kitchen has moved to their converted olive press in the village where they have bought their house, between Kassiopi and Acharavi, on the North East coast. Along with the move, The Corfu Kitchen has been set up a cookery school which will run each Spring and Autumn, starting October 2005. This was launched last October to great acclaim (The course was far better than we could have dreamed and Ben and Claudia were wonderful L.L., Oregon, USA) at their old premises. The course aims to improve confidence in the kitchen and teach a host of exciting Greek and Mediterranean recipes with a modern twist. The course isnt purely demonstration-based and guests have plenty of opportunity to learn knife skills and get their hands mucky!

In their new location, they are now planning special supper club nights for members only. The olive press roof has been lifted off to make a secret courtyard and the dining space is on an elevated first floor platform within the building, overlooking olive groves and the fantastic stonework of the building itself. The space can also be used for private parties.
The dream of moving and settling here seems finally to have reached fruition. Ben and Claudia were married here and their second baby, Molly, was born just after Christmas and Max (21 months) already speaks some Greek! With the opening this summer of their very own kitchen and cookery school, Ben and Claudia have certainly arrived.
