(Bongo - fishing from the end of the Taverna Agni jetty early one morning.)
Part of the fun of fishing while holidaying on Corfu is working out your APF. Basically you sit on the end of the jetty or rocky outcrop with a hefty supply of Amstel beers in 500ml bottles. Your APF is the Amstels consumed Per Fish!
Of course it may be interesting to visit each bay and work out an average APF for each of them to add to this site. Other interesting variations are APKg (Amstels per Kg of fish). You may of course use any unit of measurement - 'Bottles of Retsina' is another common one!
Now it is a common fact that other members of your family find fishing boring. So one advantage of fishing from a jetty while on holiday is you will be left in peace all day to calculate your APF. Another surprising bonus is many onlookers will tell their children to :"Don't go near the person fishing - as it will scare the fish" Even during peak season with crowded beaches - you will often find you have the jetty all to yourself! On several occasions we have spotted people sitting on the end of a jetty holding a piece of bamboo - with no line or tackle - trying to impersonate a genuine 'fishing person' so as to enjoy the above mentioned benefits. We feel this is unfair and anyone caught will be banned from the site!
